Tafatafa Marine Environment Conservation Project
Tafatafa Marine Environment Conservation Project
The project will focus on the rehabilitation and protection of Tafatafa's marine environment which was and still is the important source of socio-economic livelihood for the people. The overall problem of decreasing fish and other marine life including corals is a major concern now for the village. It has also realised the urgent need to adress it by at least focusing and working on reducing (i) beach and coastal erosion; (ii) runoff from land; (iii) accumulation of silt and debris in the adjacent lagoon and reef areas, especially those caused by the Samoa tsunami of 29th September 2009.
