Demonstration of the Buleryan energy efficiency furnaces use for heating of premises as the method of biodiversity preservation on the territory of Kazakhstan part of Altay Sayan area
Project territory includes 7 rural counties adjacent to the Katon-Karagay National park. One of the main objectives of the national park is the conservation of forests as a habitat for globally significant species of Kazakhstan part of Altai-Sayan Ecoregion. A feature of this area is that it is the only region in Kazakhstan, where the houses of local people are heated only by wood. Coal, because of remoteness of the territory and the lack of appropriate transport and communications, are very expensive, and in the region are imported in limited quantities only for budgetary institutions. Thus, the population of 7 rural counties a total of about 18,000 people over 8 months of heating season, consume about 23 000 m3 (approximately 2000 hectares) of wood per year for firewood. Now the areas covered by forest are reducing, and the quality of wood is decline.

Project aim:
To demonstrate all the steps of necessary work associated with the use of energy-efficient furnaces Buleryan. This furnace has been chosen as the most effective, inexpensive and does not require major reconstruction of premises and communal systems.

Project tasks:
- Demonstration of energy efficiency furnace Bulerjan in operation for heating of inhabited and uninhabited premises for wood consumption reduction and forest preservation, being inhabitance for global-significant species
- Reduction of carbonic gas emissions due to entire combustion of fuel

Project results:
- On the territory of 7 rural counties (29 localities, 18000 people) demonstrated affordable energy-efficient furnace with an efficiency of 80%
- In 10 areas, which installed the energy-efficient furnace will be reduced consumption of wood from an average of 5.7 m3 to 2.5 m3 per season
- Installing and using of the furnace Buleryan would reduce the cost of one family in 2 times
- On the basis of the initiative group is registered voluntary association, which will enhance the capacity of local people in the area
- On the basis of demonstration sites will be held introductory seminars for villagers 7 rural counties located near National Park about the benefits of using of furnace Buleryan for heating
