Targeted Location and Population:

The project site Tiantongyuan community is located in Beijiing with about 100,000 households.
The project will also raise public awarness in Tianjin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Guangdong, Henan, Chongqing, Sichuan and Shanxi, 10 provinces and municipalities. The total population is about tens of millions with about 500,000 households.

Problems:
The persistent organic pollutants (POPS) did an extremely negative influence on the environment, organisms and the human body. But few people know about POPs even many well-educated people.

Solutions/ planned activities:

1. Create a special websites on POPS.

2. Carry out knowledge competition activities about POPS.

3. Hold a media journalists training course to POPS.

4. Carry out outreach campain at focal community and farmers and fishermen community nationwide.

Anticipated results/ immediate outputs of this project:

1.A special websites for POPs is established for knowledge sharing and public education.

2.Public awarness on POPs is raised.

3. About 100 media journalists have the knowledge of POPs and write report on POPs.

4. about 1000 farmers and fishermen in Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Guangdong, Henan, Chongqing, Sichuan and Shanxi, 11 provinces and municipalities knows about POPs.
