Microhydro As Environmentally Friendly Alternative Energy For Drying Orthosiphon Spicatus Leave in Kampong Ciwaluh
Ecological Threat :
Ciwaluh is one of the kampong located in the border of Mt. Gede Pangrango National Park, which known as the only tropical rain forest ecosystem that still existed in Indonesia. The community of Ciwaluh also known as the community who concern about forest surrounding their village. The awareness on the importance of forest for community?s live is expressed through conserving and protecting the forest from forestfire or other threats which acknowledged by National Park management office. To present, the cooperation on forest management between National Park office and community of Ciwaluh has increased the level of forest conservation, especially in the area bordering Kampong Ciwaluh.
Project Development Goal:
Conserved the forest in Mt. Gede Pangrango National Park in order to utilize water resources.
Project Development Objective:
Established microhydro as environmentally-friendly alternative energy in Kampung Ciwaluh, Watesjaya Village, Cigombong Sub-disrtict, West Java. The micro hydro will be etshablished utilizing water resources such as waterfall and rivers existed in the area if Kampong Ciwaluh.
Expected Outputs:
1. Established 1 unit 5000 watt of microhydro in kampong ciwaluh
2. Existed coffee and rice miling industry using electricity
3. Electrified households of kampong ciwaluh
4. Improved ciwaluh community income due to the increase of farming production volume and quality
5. Conserved forest in kampong ciwaluh by the community
Activities to be Conducted:
1. Conducting reguler village meeting to monitor the use of electricity from microhydro
2. Strengthening management of microhydro electricity usage is under Ciwaluh Cooperative
3. Training local Community to manage microhydro so community does not rely entirely on electrical engineer from outside village
4. Training local community to produce grinded coffee so that they can sell more grinded coffee than coffee beans
5. Procurement of machinery roasting and powdering to produce coffee that ready to consumption

1. Direct : 85 Households (450 people) of Kampong Ciwaluh
2. Indirect : Management Office of Mt. Gede Pangrango National Park
