Ecological Threat :
The Kerumutan village, located in Kerumutan Sub-district, Pelelawan District, was adjacent geographically with the Kerumutan Nature Reserve. The Kerumutan landscape is the area consisted of the core region (the Kerumutan Nature Reserve covering of 93.223 ha, the Protected Peatland Area (the area of the potential expansion) covering 52.213 ha, and the Intervention Area (that has influence and impact on the conservation of the Kerumutan Peatland Forest ecosystem) covering of 1.176.734 ha. The total Kerumutan area is 1.322.169 ha (based on the calculation and analysis of terrestrial image). The Kerumutan Peatland Forest Ecosystem has an important role in water conservatory, carbon warehouse, and habitat for important species especially the Sumatran Tiger (Sanderson, and. Al, 2006) that is protected and endemic species. Therefore, the existence of Kerumutan landscape is important to be conserved. In the intervention area there are multi-stakeholders forest and land utilization, such as plantation forest, productive plant forest, palm oil plantation, community forest, fishers, and other development activities implemented by the government.
