IMPROVING NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT BY LOCALS PRPJECT
The project seeks to develop the capacities of local communities in mitigating the impacts of climate change through Conserving the biodiversity and protecting the Lake Piso Nature Reserve in Grand Cape Mount County. The project will also reduce the depletion of the mangrove in the area and also contribute to the UN-REDD Initiative to which Liberia has signed on. In addition, the project will address the issue of poverty reduction, environmental sustainability and food security.

Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2007 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from October by the NC.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Knowledge transfer and capacity building based on personal involvement of local people are at the heart of this project and hence dissemination is an integral aspect of what is planned.
