Revamping Traditional Conservation in Liberia and Promotion of Alternative Livelihood Programme
The project seeks to develop the capacities of local communities in biodiversity conservation, by protecting the East Nimba Nature Reserve. The project will gathers traditional and scientific baseline information surrounding totem species, produce credible cartoons journals and provision of a livelihood support for income generating activities. Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultation has already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2007 with community and stakeholders representative. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of that consultation process and a pre-project development visit which was undertaken from October by the NC.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Knowledge transfer and capacity building based on personal involvement of local people are at the heart of this project and hence dissemination is an integral aspect of what is planned.
