St. Mary Peace Farm is an agro-tourist community based organisation which is moving towards organic agriculture and other sustainable practices for the betterment of the community. Land Degradation, specifically, soil erosion affects the community in several ways. Water infrastructure is spotty in this area and so people are dependent on the streams for bathing, drinking, washing, farming and other purposes. At the same time, several members of the community have felt forced to engage in deforestation because their lack of knowledge of other sustainable options. Finally, children are not exposed to new and interesting ways of protecting and preserving their environment which could be a major source of economic benefit for their parents now and for them in the future.
