The project aims at influencing the use of renewable energy within the local community in Bayuda implementing solar water heaters and conserving energy. This project will therefore increase environmental awareness about natural resource management that will help decrease logging in the area and later nurturing this aspect within the local community. Its specific objectives are as follows: - Conserve energy in the area, along with improving the livelihood and living conditions of the local community, by using a revolving fund that is given to help initiate energy conservation practices. - Enhance the awareness of the local community about energy conservation practices. - Promote renewable energy and decreasing logging in the area, which will help conserve the biodiversity of Bayuda.

This project will therefore increase environmental awareness about natural resource management through awareness lectures and training sessions that will help decrease logging in the area and later nurturing this aspect within the local community.

the NGO was established in 1990 with an aim to provide help and assistance to the local community and help increase income generation. The NGO has 90 members to date with equal opportunities of both men and women. The village is surrounded by almost 1500 dunnums of planted olive trees and another 1000 dunumms are forestlands where trees and fodder plants grow. As is the case with other forestland in the country, these lands suffer from over-grazing and gradual degradation. The NGO believes that efforts need to be done in order to protect the environment of this village and its surrounding areas.
