Sustainable Forest Management for Environment Conservation
Sustainable Forest Management for Environment Conservation
Salyan district is one of the resurging districts due to conflict in the past. But the pace of resurgence is not very encoraging and the remote VDCs in the district are still not streamlined in the devleopment process. On the other hand, these remote VDCs are rich in non timber forest products and medicianal and aromatic plants (MAPs). Thus the project has aimed to establish essential oil extraction initiative to value add the MAPs thereby increasing the living standard of local people. Socially, the district is inhabitated by different ethnic groups such as Bramhan, Magar, Dalit, Janjati, and Chhetri. The project area includes two VDCs namely Dhanabang and Garpa where there are 28 community forests with huge opportunity to harvest MAPs.
