Planning Grant to develop a proposal entitled Sustainable and Environmentally Responsible Production of Seaweed (Euchuma isoforme and Gracelaria spp) in the marine areas adjacent to Placencia Village.
The purpose of the planning grant is to complete a preliminary market study, research workshop costs and trainers, and price equipment needed for an accurate budget.
The market study will be conducted by Belicana Consulting and Developing Ltd., contact is Shaun Finnetty. His group will review existing secondary literature and data and undertake several key informant interviews with known purchasers and vendors. This will give an overview of the existing market and some survey questions will be added regarding the processed product, to get an idea of any potential market. The project coordinator and co-op members will be responsible for identifying workshop and equipment costs.
