Community livelihood advancement through integrated environmental management
The aim of the project is to increase the incomes of the local communities in the Foni districts of the Western Region through a an integrated programme of conserving natural resources and promoting the adoption of a more sustainable resource use practices. The programme will involve forest management, conservation farming and capacity building among others.

Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
One of the project outputs seeks to reduce deforestation and land degradation through the use of energy saving cooking stoves which specuifically targets the womenfolk in the project areas.
Project sustainability
The 3 central nurseries will raise seedlings for planting in the community forests and woodlots within the district and address the shortage of seedlings during the planting season. The women group of Bondali village received training on the production of improved energy-saving cooking stoves which is in high demand throughout the country.The incomes thay generate will sustain the initiative.
