Building capacity on environmental awareness through children to their families using education with the use of literature books and media
The project was geared towards creating greater public awareness, building capacities and changing attitudes towards waste management in order to reduce the negative consequences of improper waste disposal. The project specifically targeted pre-school children between the ages of 4 - 7 using a cartoon character called "Greenie". Its intention was to inculcate a sense of ownership within this age group by emphasizing the need for proper disposal of waste as opposed to littering the environment. The project also included running some training course for selected teachers so as to make it sustainable in the long run. The project was also in support of national efforts at waste management and the recently enacted anti-littering bill.
