The Sustainable Village Jatropha and Carbon Offsets project seeks to develop the capacity of local communities in mitigating the impacts of climate change through an alternative bio-fuel production. The project will plant the jathropha trees where the seeds will be proccessed in to bio-fuel.

Notable Community Participation
An in-depth consultations have already taken place, with discussions beginning in 2007 with communities and stakehloder representatives. This proposal has evolved as a direct result of pre- project consultations and other consultations undertaken by the National Coordinator.
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
It is envisage that the project will provide a sustainable alternative source of income for the people Saclepea. This will enhance the poverty Reduction Strategy programme by Government of Liberia.
