Climate Change mitigation with focus on alternate gadgets and fuels.
Objective:
The project has set the following objectives:

? Construction of 20 biogas plants to forest dependents.
? Construction of 500 smokeless ovens.

Activities:
? Awareness generation through campaigns on providing alternatives like bio gas plants, smokeless ovens that reduce dependence on forests.
? Repairing and re-commissioning of defunct roof water harvesting technologies.
? Formation of Village Development Committees,PRA Awareness campaigns.
? Planning and procurement of low cost technology units that generate easily accessible and affordable electricity to the residents of tribal hamlets.
? Training is provided to the local SHG members on non farm based enterprise activities like agarbatti rolling, tailoring etc.
? Construction and installation of low cost technology items.
? Implementation and monitoring of the projects.
? Evaluation, Documentation and reporting.

Project Characteristics and Results
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
After the training session the gadgets like the smokeless ovens will be handed over to the beneficiaries. The costs of these installed gadgets are very low and it can be easily installed by the locals. In addition, time spent on collecting the fire wood from the distant forest also gets reduced. As the avaibility of the cheap cooking fuels is the basic need of the poor people of the area such equipments reduces the expense buying the fire woods. The installations of the various Bio- gas plants provide employment for residents of the project area. With the introduction of these low cost, energy efficient ovens the wood consumption goes down by 70 to 80% and a 5 member family can save up to 8 Kg of the tree wood per day.
Capacity - Building Component
The NGO is planned to organize various training sessions in the project area to train the beneficiaries on the proper utilization of the biogas plant and also about the technical aspects of the same. 15 SHG's formed.
