Conservation of Dyospyros Mcrophylla and Manikara Kaoki Samawaensis Through The Development of Community Forest in Village Critical Land With
Project Development Goals:
To rehabilitate critical land, food crisis, and to conserve scarce plant in West Nusa Tenggara with community participation
Project Development Objectives:
1. The West Nusa Tenggara indigenous plant Dyospyros Mcrophylla and Manikara Kaoki Samawaensis will be conserved;
2. Rehabilitated critical land;
3. The ?Community Forest to Reduce Global Warming? will be developed
4. Increased community food security
Expected Outputs:
1. Established and functioning local institution to support project activities. It consist of:
a. 2 farmer groups @ 25 members
b. 2 farmer groups will be able to conduct regular meeting according to collective agreement
c. Increasing capacity of 2 farmer groups through training and comparative study
d. Existing monitoring and evaluation plan composed by 2 farmer groups
2. Adopted critical land agro-forestry technology by farmer groups:
a. Established land-terracing rice fields to be used in 15 hectares group-owned land
b. Planted gamal and bulrush;
c. Applied one-season crop cultivation by community
d. Distributed 1,500 emitters and will be used by targeted farmers
e. Distributed and planted 3,000 klicung (Dyospyros Mcrophylla) seeds; 1,125 sawo kecik (Manikara Kaoki Samawaensis) seeds; 2,250 sengon seeds; 1,500 mahogany seeds; 1,500 white teak wood seeds; 1,125 teak wood seeds; 900 eaglewood seeds.
3. Developed supporting activities for assisted group :
a. Distributed 10 yearlings cow to 2 farmer groups
b. Increased capacity regarding cow breeding technology to assisted farmer
c. Developed 2 types of project supported media: guideline book/booklet and poster
Activities to be conducted:
1. Project socialization and coordination through workshop in district and village level;
2. Strengthening farmer group organizational capacity;
3. Conserving critical land through establishment of land-terracing rice fields;
4. Processing planting spaces for productive plants;
5. Planting indigenous plant Klicung (Dyospyros Mcrophylla) and Sawo Kecik (Manikara Kaoki Samawaensis);
6. Planting other supporting forest plant (sengon, mahogany, teakwood, gmelina, and eaglewood);
7. Developing revolving fund in form of cow breeding;
8. Facilitating group training, including exchange study;
9. Intensive assistance to community;
10. Monitoring and Evaluation

Direct : 2 groups @ 25 farmers
Indirect : 750 Households of Nipah and Malaka Village
