Capacity - Building Component
Communities are being trainined on WASH - Water Sanitation and Hygiene. These training modules will be used from UNICEF manuals.
Notable Community Participation
This project will be implemented in three villages along the upper Suriname river that still need to be determined during the first phase of the project (assessment).
The community involvement is from the planning phase, since the community should indicate their willingness to use the latrines as sanitation facility. Some communities do not want to use the latrines. Also, during construction of the latrines, the community members are involved, using local materials and local labour.
