? Approx 197 trees planted with 190 surviving at 2 sites River Road/Darbeau (96 % survival rate).
? Approx 23 trees planted with 19 surviving at old Trafford site (83 % survival rate).
? Soil erosion reduced through the planting and survival of approx 190 trees at the River Road / Darbeau River Bank, St. Georges, Grenada.


Social
? Partnerships built with (1) private sector entities (Digicel, GRENLEC and Grenada Steel Works) as potential sponsors of Greens Sites; and (2) the Government of Grenada and the Grenada National Stadium Authority (GNSA) as custodians of the established Green Sites at River Road/Darbeau & Old Trafford and GNSA grounds respectively.


Economic
? Part time employment created for one person at a rate of US $500 per month for fourteen months (US $7?000).

? 16 persons were hired on a temporary basis when required at a rate on US $18.52 per manday. A total of 152 mandays were worked and US $ 2?815 was earned collectively by the temporary employees.


Capacity Development
? 16 persons (7 males, 9 females) trained in greening areas and site development.
? 16 persons (10 males, 6 females) trained in land preparation, tree planting and plant maintenance.

GENDER

? One male was hired as the project coordinator and is paid at a rate of US $500 per month. He has earned wages totalling US $7?000 thus far.
? 6 women and 10 men were hired on a temporary basis when required, and were both paid at a rate of US $18.52 per manday worked. A total of 152 mandays were worked and US $ 2?815 was earned collectively by the temporary employees.
? Both males and females benefitted from the training offered through the project. The training was open to both males and females, and 17 males and 15 females participated in the training activities.

Challenges
? Thus far the project has not encountered any challenges specific to men or women.

PROJECT CHALLENGES
? Negotiations to establish a formal ?Clearing House Facility? to examine approve and set conditions for establishment of Green Sites and amenities, have been protracted as the relevant stakeholders have been slow in their response.
? Some project targets are behind, especially those related to public awareness, as the responsible project partners have been slow to act.

LESSONS LEARNED
? To succeed a project like this requires strong partnership between private sector, public sector and the grantee. Support must be confirmed in writing from all participants and the planning process must be transparent and participatory to minimise the possibility of persons reneging on their commitments to help.
