Objective:
? To promote conservation and sustainable harvesting practices for locally threatened Medicinal plant species.
? To promote propagation and cultivation of selected threatened Medicinal plant species.
? To set up a bael based micro-enterprise and strengthen the existing marketing network.
? To enhance socio-economic status of Sahariya Primitive Tribe.

Output:
? Baseline reports on the socio-economic status and status of the ecology.
? Formation of Common interest group (CIGs) and their institutional strengthening
? No. of persons trained in sustainable harvesting, nursery techniques and processing and value-addition techniques of bael in particular and other NTFPs in general.
? Establishment of a community-managed cost effective nursery
? Establishment of a low-cost processing unit
? Getting Food Product Order (FPO) license from Regional office (Bombay).
? Enhanced income of the beneficiaries.

Activity:
? Conducting a baseline survey to determine the socio economic status of the communities, their livelihood options etc. for setting benchmarks.
? Formation of Common interest groups (CIGs) and their institutional strengthening ? 100 beneficiaries are identified from Khori village cluster who are then organized into 10 CIGs having 10 members each (50%men and 50% women members).
? Capacity building on sustainable harvesting practices & primary processing
a) Training Module on Sustainable Harvesting practices of locally threatened species.
b) Training module on nursery techniques of threatened medicinal plants
c) Training module on processing techniques of bael
? Establishment of cost effective Nursery for supplying planting material to produce and propagate planting materials of locally endangered plants.
? Establishment of procurement and primary processing center for purpose of supplying good quality raw material.
? Establishment of bael based micro-enterprise to enhance the income level of beneficiaries and maintaining their interest in conservational efforts.
? Marketing of the products through a two-pronged strategy i.e. a) selling 25% of the total collected bael as processed products and b) selling the remaining 75% of the total collected produce as semi processed products.
? Attempts would be made to get a Food Product Order license on processed and packaged food items.

Project sustainability
. The projects aims to initiate with bael processing and marketing and then subsequently intensify marketing of other NTFPs using the same value-chain , same resources processing center, skills pf people etc . Moreover, in order to ensure the supply of good quality and regular supply of raw materials these institution have the incentive to practice sustainable harvesting. In the long term sustainability of the project will also be ensured through the bael plantations done at the field bunds of the interested farmers.
