Biodiversity Protection and Water Harvesting Techniques Through Integrated Catchment Protection In Rupise and Chakohwa Ward Of Chimanimani District
Biodiversity Protection and Water Harvesting Techniques Through Integrated Catchment Protection In Rupise and Chakohwa Ward Of Chimanimani District
1.0 THE PROBLEM

The project will be based in Rupise and Chikohwa Wards of Chimanimani District. in both these wards there is glaring evidence of soil erosion. As a result the production of dry land degradation and grazing for livestock continues to decline. the storage capacity of water reservoirs has also been greatly reduced due to siltation thereby reducing the availability of water for irrigation. This has negatively affected the food and livelihood security of the communities living in the save catchment area.stream bank cultivation is also prevalent as evidenced by the mushrooming of gardens and fields along the banks of the Save river and its tributary Odzi river.
