Reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions by converting groundnut waste into household fuel briquettes.
The aim of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by converting discarded groundnut shells (a waste) into household fuel briquettes. The discarded groundnut shells are dumped in the open and set on fire from time to time as the site runs out of space for new arrivals. The burning poses not only a health hazard but is estimated to contribute greatly to GHG emissions. The briquettes produced from the waste will provide an important alternative to wood fuel and charcoal which contributes to the high rates of deforestation in the country.
