EProject Development Goal:
Achieved sustainable coastal management in Rugemuk Village
Project Development Objectives:
1. Strengthening community capacity in coastal-based tourism management
2. Improving the quality of mangrove forest as buffer zone in Kualanamu Airport area
3. Creating additional income for fishers by developing tourism
Expected Outputs:
1. Established model of stakeholders relation in coastal management
2. Established tourism management group
3. Established coastal tourism site while maintaining function of mangrove forest
4. Increased of fishermen?s income from tourism management
5. Established mangrove conservation in Rugemuk Village coastal area
Activities to be conducted:
A. Developing conservation-based management system
1. Conducting workshop in coastal tourism management planning
2. Tourism management study
- Compiling concept for reviewing
- Preparing questionnaires
- Compiling data
- FGD
- Discussion on the study report
3. Mangrove area mapping
- Identifying data & information
- Producing brief sketch on forest
- Mapping mangrove areas
- Creating map
- Displaying map for public purposes
4. Establishing tourism group
- Meeting between mangrove farmers groups
- Establishing organizational structure
- Legalizing the group
- Determining the tasks and functions of the group
5. Regular group meeting
6. Meeting between stakeholders
7. Workshop to formulate local-based tourism management
8. Public Consultation
B. Mangrove Conservation
1. Seeds restocking
- Preparing seeds for plantation
- Preparing 10,000 Api-api (Avicennia) and rhizophora mangrove seeds
- Seeding
2. Planting mangrove in 2 hectares or 1 km from 5 km of Rugemuk beach coastline
C. Increasing community income through tourism
1. Developing small huts for tourism
- Preparing the location
- Preparing the materials
- Building the huts
D. Monitoring and evaluation
1. Monitoring the mangrove planting
2. Monitoring program
