“Bio diversity conservation through apiculture for sustainable livelihood of the poor tribal communities
Objective:
The project has set the following objectives:
To provide scientific training on indigenous bee keeping for forest dependents.
To encourage sustainability and demonstrate participation, democracy, leverage, financial sources, community contributions, flexibility, partnership and transparency in their approach during implementation.
To promote innovative community based and indigenous projects to reduce local environment threat and improve livelihoods
To generate peoples participation in planning, implementing and monitoring of projects
Output:
The project would achieve the following outputs:
Development of village level micro units comprising as SHG?s of beekeepers.
Establishing local biodiversity plantations through village based nurseries.
Creating an institutional arrangement in the village of product testing and marketing.
Community capacity building in bee keeping and management operations of the units.
Links internships with markets and other institutions/NGO?s in bee keeping.
Activity:
? Development of village level micro units comprising as SHG?s of bee keepers.
? Regular village meetings.
? Formation of SHG?s.
? Regular Savings and Bank linkages to SHG?s.
? Follow up meetings.
? Establishing local biodiversity plantations through village based nurseries.
? Nursery Raising with SHG groups
? Link up this program to other Govt. depts. (Forest etc..,)
? Sale of nursery plants and utilizing funds for the next year activities.
? Creating an institutional arrangement in the village of product testing and marketing.
? Ensure community participation in sharing costs for sustainability through continued dialogue.
? Engaging the 75% of village community in the project activities.
? Community capacity building in bee keeping and management operations of the units.
? Training on Bee keeping to local community.
? Selection of bee keeping beneficiaries.
? Training on nursery and community plantation activity.
? Capacity building on organic farming
? Links internships with markets and other institutions/NGO?s in bee keeping.
? Create partnerships /links with panchayath.
? Links with Govt. schemes with District Collectorate & private partners to access the co-financing for various schemes.
? Exposure for links with other NGO?s and agriculture Dept.
? Link with Forest Dept., MPLAD/MLA fund & private sector as co-financing
