Capacity Building of the GEF SGP Partner NGOs
The project ?Capacity Building of GEF SGP Partner NGOs? will be implemented across Pakistan with participating organizations; whereas special focus will be Indus delta region. The activities generally will include 1) Build capacities of 150 professionals and members from 20 CBOs and NGOs already working or aspire to work with GEF SGP. The trainings to these organizations would specifically transfer skills in ?social organization?, ?accounting and bookkeeping?, ?skills for effective project management?, ?resource mobilization and project proposal writing?, ?effective communication and report writing? and ?environmental sustainability?; and 2) Building institutional capacities of these organizations (CBOS and NGOs) to function as systems and procedures wise sustainable organizations able to deliver the projects in an effective manner.
Training Resource Center (TRC) will seek expressions of interests from CBOs and NGOs. Selection criteria will be devised to facilitate the selection process. A final list of the selected CBOs and NGOs will be shared with GEF-SGP. TRC will sign terms of partnership with CBOs and NGOs on the proposed interventions under this project. This will be done to ensure a commitment from participating CBOs and NGOs to adopt the learning of these trainings. TRC will conduct a training needs assessment of the CBOs and NGOs to incorporate specific training needs of different organizations. Customized training modules and manuals will be prepared for training delivery.
TRC will organize training events of six type of trainings for the selected members and staff of the CBOs and NGOs. After completing first cycle of the trainings based on the feedback the course contents will be revised and enriched. The next cycle of the trainings will include 6 training events on the subjects mentioned above.
The CBOs will be given on site capacity building interventions. These interventions include assessing organizational capacities, facilitating the organizations in preparing their short and medium term strategic plans, review of organizations accounting and bookkeeping practices and procedures and facilitating to improve their internal controls.
