Raising of Fruits Orchards, Construction of Rain Water Conservation Tanks in three Union Councils of New Murree (Tehsil Murree) and organization of “Galiat Conference on Social Forestry at Islamabad or Murree
Project Objectives:
i. Developing fruit orchards amongst rural households by providing 40,000 fruit plants in 03 selected UCs of the project area.
ii. Introducing forest conservation by promoting social forestry & Conservation of water resource through rain water preservation for household purposes by the women beneficiaries and watering of fruit plants
iii. Construction of 20 rain water conservation tanks
iv Train local people about management of nursery and fruit plantation techniques, layout planning, use of insecticides and fruit plants pruning and rain water conservation techniques.
v.Promoting the Concept of fruit plants nurseries raising.
vi.Organization of a Galiat Conference on Social Forestry? at Islamabad for 100 participants for highlighting issues resulting of forests and promotion of social forestry in other UCs of Galiat as replication of intervention of UNDP/GEF/SGP through Sukhi.
? Project will address the issues of land degradation and climate change, which are the focal areas of UNDP GEF SGP
