Biodiversity conservation and rehabilitation of desert biomes with development of ecotourism and education on the South-West part of the Kyzylkum desert
The project aims to improve protection of the Kyzylkum desert ecosystem by enlarging the territory of the existing breeding center Djeyran from 5,000 hectares to 32,000 hectares. Existing 5,000 ha are not sufficient for sustainability of the inhabiting population of wild ungulates, including djeyran gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa),Wild Prejevalsky horse (Equus przewalskii) and Wild donkey (Equus hemionus) . The project will help the applicant to add additional 27,000 ha and equip it for protection of the target species. The project will help the breeding center to reintroduce part of the ungulate population to the added territory, provide necessary conditions for their comfortable habitat and protection. In order to make the center capable to sustain the added territories, a new tourist product will be introduced - similar to "safari" existing in Africa. Visitors will be able at the specified time and the specified routes observe wild populations of the ungulates.

Project Characteristics and Results
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
All participants involved in the project (and their number is quite significant) clearly understand the reason why the project is implemented and thus improve self-understanding of the biodiversity values.
Policy Impact
Possible policy impact is directly connected with the idea to give more flexibility to the PAs so that they could improve management and status of the protected biodiversity through more multifaceted use of biodiversity resources. Of course, sustainable use.
