Ensuring the sustainable use of biodiversity components in the framework of tourism activities by implementing the concept of eco-tourism
Modern human life style makes tourism one of the most considerable factors of anthropogenous influence on environment and biodiversity. Thus people are involved more and more in tourism visiting natural territories, i.e. based on use of natural resources. The same tendency is observed in Kazakhstan as well.
The following factor carries potential risks for the nature and biodiversity:
- Tourism has a mass character and more and more tourists have interest in visiting especially protected natural territories;
- The remote areas of the nature become easily reachable for tourists. Those places which attracted only small groups of enthusiasts and fans of "wild" tourism earlier, in modern conditions can be used as places for week-end tours for inhabitants of megacities;
- Uncontrolled vehicles use for nature tourism leads to such negative influences, as spontaneous creation of not equipped places for parking, and additional wastes places
- Modern tourists is frequently less familiar with natural and cultural-ethnographic features of the visited place, and don?t possess necessary skills of solicitous attitude to the nature.
Project aim:
To render information and methodical assistance on formation and development of national, regional and local ecotourism development policies and sustainable ecotourism development on the natural protected areas, compatible with the CBD tasks on biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of its components.
Project results:
The project creates basis for formation of national and local concepts for ecotourism and sustainable tourism development on the special nature protected areas.
- Informational manual on principles of sustainable tourism on the territories of the special protected areas is issued and widely spread out
- 2 training for governmental bodies and authorities, Special Nature Protected area representatives are arranged on ecotourism as mechanism for biodiversity conservation
- 2 legal acts will be developed for further approval at the state level on biodiversity conservation through sustainable tourism development
