I . First progress report (March 26, 2009)
Activities undertaken:
1. Building capacity of target population on soil rehabilitation, quality of water in natural water courses and production of bio-fertilizer, through training and seminar

Results of activities:
1. Increased technical capacity and awareness of 50 target population witnessed through active participation and relevant discussion
2. At least 4,000 litres of ionic plasma to be used in production of bio-fertilizer and water quality adjustment.
3. Additional community members showing interest to participate in project activities

Project communication:
The project was made more visible through dissemination boards , two radio stations and periodical visit from mass media.

Experience ,lessons learnt, problems and issues:
The project did not mention any thing in particular.

Project expense:
The project report the expense of THB: 210,000 out of the first disbursement of THB:214,141.91.

II.Monitoring visit by the NSC and University UNV (February 3, 2010)
Findings and observations:
The visiting team met with the project leader, Ms. Wassana Natheepitak, at the implemented Learning Center for Self-sufficiency philosophy. After a briefing of progresses of the project, the visiting team took a walk for about two hours witnessing organic vegetable plots along the Lam Patiw Canal, local fishing practice, charcoal production, a paddy field and an orchard applied with bio-fertilizer produced by the project, a fish conservation zone and a famous vegetable ?morning glory? along the canal.
Despite its location outskirt of Bangkok Metropolis, the community had no piped water for daily use and had to depend upon the water from the canal. This necessitated the communities to apply measures to protect the canal. Land-base pollution from households and upstream factories had to be seriously dealt with. Project leaders had discussed with and seemed to get cooperation from those upstream factories and households, as well as, the Royal Irrigation Department who oversaw the canal in the location.

This project is an example of communities residing in agricultural ecosystems, practicing paddy farming, with gardens in the backyards, who demonstrated cooperation to protect and conserve local livelihoods and natural resources with some adaptation as appropriate.
During the visit, community participation and harmony appeared notable, even though expansion of urbanization was only next door. Traditional houses and gardening practice were still witnessed.

With the support of SGP in partnership with local governments and community networks, around 300 communities have already taken the decision to convert their crops into organic farming.

III. Second Progress Report (February 16, 2010);
Activities undertaken:
1. Keeping on building capacity of target population on soil rehabilitation, quality of water in natural water courses and production of bio-fertilizer, through training and seminar
2. Putting into practice what were learnt in 1

Results of activities:
1. Ten families of target population exhibiting capacity and gained experience by becoming models and learning places for organic farming
2. Produced 12,000 litres of liquid bio-fertilizer and 4.8 tons of powered bio-fertilizer being applied in both paddy field and orchard about 80 ha, with primary satisfactory results
3. Produced 1,600 litres of environmentally-friendly toiletry stuff being used in 160 households

Project communication:
During this period ,the project was made more visible through community radio FM. 104.25 MHz every Monday-Thursday (14:00-16:00). The project was also publicized in a magazine ? Voice of Community ? , the May 2009 issue.

Experience ,lessons learnt, problems and issues:
At the beginning of the project, cooperation and participation from stakeholders were not outstanding as expected, one reason was because of usual ,easy but harmful practice of farming and daily livelihood. After sometimes of project implementation and looming positive result, it appeared that the practice had been satisfactorily decreased. At a certain level, the project had brought community members closers together resulting in more harmonious community life.

Project expense:
The project reported an accumulated expense of THB: 433,808 out of the sum of first & second disbursement of THB: 433,807.69.

Results and indicators:
1. Increased capacity and awareness of target population witnessed through active participation in environment development activities and emergence of two groups persistently managing local ecosystems as follows:
? 30-member housewife group producing chemical-free soaps/shampoo and stuff for traditional medicine
? 40-members agricultural group carrying out environmentally friendly agriculture
2. About 90 ha of cultivated land and water canal being under close watch , freed from chemical application and filled with more native species of medicinal value
3. Evinced reduction in daily expense and expense on maintenance cultivated land and increase in health safety

Project Communication:
Periodically, the project was made more visible through visits of students from several colleges.

Plans and Activities for Sustainability:
The project planned to entrust responsibility to youth groups that had been participating in activities. Activities to carry on would be planting and maintaining more trees , establishment of fish conservation zone in front of the mosque.

Experience , Lessons Learnt , Problems and Issues:
With current achievement, there had been more community members requesting to join project activities. In order to guarantee optimal result of the project, participation from all, i.e. families (communities), academic institute ( community school) and religious committee (mosque) were imperative.
