Rehabilitation and Sustainable Management of Natural Resources
Target Population / Location of project: 1,367 families with 5,231 members,in six villages situated in watershed of Huay Mae Rid Creek- an integrated ecosystems of the Gulf Of Thailand. 80 % practice paddy farming and fruit gardening. Making brooms from biomass is the only main supplementary income. 1,300 persons are targeted as direct beneficiaries of the project.
Main Anticipated Result:
1. Evinced increased community participation in managing natural resources, in term of both use and protection in a sustainable way
2. Emergence of 25 model families practicing sufficiency economy as a centre for sharing experience
3. Cooperate actions to address environmental issues at the basin-wide
Main Activities:
1.Building capacity of target population on conservation and sufficiency philosophy and revival of traditional knowledge
2. Launching rehabilitation activities: demarcation of area and classification of five forest areas, setting up five seedling banks reforestation and fire-break zones and biological resources inventory
3. Producing dissemination materials for outreach
