Improving Conservation Based Community Economy in terms of Food Sovereignty Management for Four Indigenous People Group in Sikka District
PProject Development Goal/Objectives:
1. Improving natural management capacity to achieve ecological balance and to ensure the fulfilment of community basic needs.
2. Developing food security based community economy system and other basic needs.
3. Strengthening community organization in order to achieve and sustain the right of protected forest area management.
Expected Outputs:
1. Establishing 1 (one) demonstration plot (demplot) in four communities and managed collectively.
2. Improving the quality of water spring and watershed area
3. Establishing cooperation to provide community basic needs and owned by community.
4. Formulating an agreement that can be used as advocacy tool to government in district level.
Activities to be conducted:
1. Establishing Farming Demonstration Plot in Pigang Bekor and Egon Gahar
a. Demonstration plot workshop with farmers and local communities
b. Field observation
c. Collective agreement regarding work mechanism
d. Implementing the management process from planting to harvesting
2. Conservation of Spring Water And Watershed Area in Four Communities
a. Conservation activities will be conducted in each community of spring water and watershed area through replanting various local varieties suitable with spring water area.
3. Formulating Land Protection and Management Rules in Forest Area
a. Organizing community meeting
b. Organizing workshop at village level with the involvement of local government officers from Sub-district and District level
4. Establishing Cooperation in Egon Gahar Community
a. Socialization and planning
b. Identification development needs
c. Collective agreement on rules and work mechanism
d. Collecting community contributions/capital
e. Implementing community service process

1. Wairkung Indigenous People of Nanghale, Talibura Sub-district (103 Households)
2. Nian Wue Wari Tana Kerapu Indigenous People, Hikong Village, Talibura Sub-district (75 Households)
3. Pigang Bekor Indigenous People, Egon Village, Waigete Sub-district (43 Households)
4. Egon Gahar Indigenous People, Mapitara Sub-district (117 Households)
