The Sarteneja Fishermen Association (SFA) wishes to apply for a grant to assist in the development of their COMPACT proposal towards a providing a mechanism for fishermen of Sarteneja village, Corozal District to develop alternative livelihood options, as per the submitted concept paper. The project will focus on developing the capacity and infrastructure of the SFA to assist its members in developing alternative incomes from cooperative pig-rearing.

A Research Grant has been received from PACT, providing funding for meetings with the fishermen in Sarteneja, and with relevant technical advisors, and initial investigations into the techniques used in Belize in pig rearing. SFA is requesting funds to allow the organization to identify current market availability in San Pedro, Corozal and Orange Walk under this COMPACT Planning Grant. The planning grant is also required to allow SFA to employ a consultant to assist with writing the grant proposal.
