Expansion of Nyanjara Fisheries Project and Magacha Re-afforestation Project in Embu - Phase II
This is an OP2 top-up grant. The Nyanjara Fisheries Kagumori CBO will work with the Wamiti wa Mbevo Women Group and the Fisheries Department and Kenya Forest Service to implement this project on fish farming and tree planting in the Mt. Kenya Forest.
The project will support raising and planting of 50,000 tree seedlings within the Magacha forest part of Mt Kenya. A trout fish hatchery will also be developed.

Project sustainability
The community group raises the trout fish as a business. They use the proceeds from the fisheries project to fund their forest conservation project and give dividend to members.
Replication of project activities
The project has been replicated in three other COMPACT community sites and about 15 sites by the European Union supported CEF project already by September 2009
