FSM: Protecting the Yela Ka Forest and Surrounding Ecosystems
The Yela Ka Forest (freshwater swamp 77.3 ha)is the last intact freshwater swamp ecosystem of its kind in the world. Such ongoing infrastructure development, like the construction of the proposed circumferential road, can have serious devastation impact to this unique " Area of Biological Significance (ABS)" (659 ha of watershed, 105 ha of mangrove swamp and 77.3 ha of freshwater swamp). The YELA group wants to preserve the forest and it surrounding ecosystem through mitigation, sustainable conservation efforts and collaborative partnership.
