Developing and Implementing A strategic Plan for Senna occidentalis (stinking weed/wild coffee)Management in the Kweneng West - Malwelwe
Senna occidentalis is a leguminous plant that has and is continuing to change the Kweneng West landscape and surrounding rangelands into dense ground cover that seriously degrade rangelands and reduce biodiversity.
The aim of the project is to have a worshop and brainstorm on how to engage the concerned communities in managing and controlling the problem plant, Senna occidentalis. The communities would carry out research on ways of controlling the plant. They will also be engaged in longterm monitoring of the plant's response to the management systems used. In order to achieve the above mentioned aims, the trust will have to develop a robust strategy with clear objectives and activities. It will be important to provide information to the communities on how other affected communities dealt with the same problem.
