PEARCOP Project (environmental education and reforestation of Pebane coast)
a project that aims to limit demographic pressure over coastal resources of Pebane area, a region on east of the great inselberg archipelago hotspot, rich in coastal-marine biodiversity, and scenic beauty; settlements established in the 90?s during civil war period induced communities to unsustainably use mangrove communities and fish stocks, and origin surface and groundwater pollution due to inadequate sanitation; the project will rehabilitate mangrove communities, promote adequate sanitation, and train resource user groups in sound management practices.
