Most likely! From the time the rehabilitation of the degraded area starts footage would be started. This would help in documenting the proceedings followed to bring it to the status the rehabilitation is envisaged to bring. Future generations would thus be able to know the importance of jealously guarding their heritage. A detailed book should also be published for future use.
Most likely! With filming and rehabilitating an area, which requires both expertise and volunteering, boosted by passion for the best would require more funds. Bio-diversity, for the sake of absorbing sinister impacts of climate change cannot be over ruled. Operations there obviously provided for extinction of some species of creatures whose replacement could be costly.
Policy Influence
Since the project is to be presented to the legislators in the near future, they are going to be asked to revisit legislation with the view to get rid of loop holes currently existing in policy and legislation.
Through its airing in the national television station and follow-up presentations at various forums it is envisaged that for a change, perhaps legislators would see to it that NGOs should be up front in drawing of policy (NGOs drawing agendas) for the civil society.
Linkages gef projects
The river is going through many villages which are currently not operating on the same level. They are all facing a common problem of powerful businesses destroying their natural resources. The connection of these villages needs involvement of various stakeholders, including government departments and NGOs. The process of uniting them on its own requires substantial amounts.
Project sustainability
Through funds the Trust would raise by selling it, maybe as educational material to schools, the Trust would strife for revenue earning avenues that would sustain the natural environment of the area. Establishing a Park, cultural village and networking with other communities and NGOs for sustainability are some of these avenues.
Planning non gef grant
Very likely! The contents of the documentary have urged potential sponsors to partake in the development the Trust wants to embark on. Also, action plans for the activities that need be done there might go beyond five years. With the impacts of climate change already felt the world over, which needs to be attended to without fail, hiccups are likely to occur. The growth of inflation rate in mind, relying on one donor would be tantamount to gambling.

Describe to what extent the objectives of the Agreement were accomplished:
The various stakeholders that viewed the documentary when it was launched gave positive feed back regarding the DVD, and the feed back was as follows:
? A Reporter of a local newspaper wondered why there was no such study material for them at Junior Certificate level. Though she did not attend she got a copy which she previewed on the Global Post Newspaper. ?Maybe you should consider not ending only there with this kind of research. Go into other areas also- emissions by cars in urban areas for instance. Go to mining areas where there are pollutions from chimneys. There are so many environmental issues that need be revealed in the manner you have done,? she suggested.
? A Lecturer at the country?s Agricultural College defined it as ?Excellent material that the Trust could use to raise funds to bring developments into the community.
? The UN Representative in Botswana said during the launch that the documentary be aired many times in the national television station.
? A Youth and Environment Association Committee member recommended that the project be given access to market through a corporate screening event. This would safe the Trust?s time of knocking on the potential buyers? door; marketing it. The advice was taken heed of. After testing it in their big machines, the New Capitol Cinema Management agreed to provide free screening, saying it was professional and had valuable information.
? Though poorly attended, the event paved way for effective networking which would start with the cooperation of the Trust and renowned brands in the conservation world; like Kalahari Conservation Society and the Environmental Department of the University of Botswana.
? After viewing it for the first time, Member of Parliament for Kweneng South East, under which Gabane village falls assured the Producer that he would arrange for a fifty or so minutes session with legislators where they would view it. The Producer would then be given the opportunity to present to the legislators, the importance of this project.
? After viewing the documentary during the Maun workshop, an official at the Department of Meteorological Services proposed that there be a meeting between Gabane Community Trust, SGP-GEF and his department to discuss ?carbon financing?.
Describe the immediate benefits received by the participants and/or the recipient communities:
Pioneering the project in itself is an immediate benefit as the GCT is now considered an authority in environmental matters and other stakeholders are benchmarking themselves against it. An example is an official from Forest Conservation Botswana who has invited Gabane Community Trust to apply for a grant to carry out educational campaigns on reforestation. This followed his viewing of the documentary.
A Drama Group that helped in the dramatization of the activities done in a river to enliven the narration went away with cash for P800. The community?s potential to carry out and complete a project within the expected time has given it mileage in as far as effective implementation of projects is concerned. The community is a pace setter as it became the first to implement this kind of a project- filming project- analyzing policy and legislation through some form of edification.
Describe the long term benefits
Once the right market recognises this project, funds would be raised. Therefore the project would bring funds into the community?s coffers. Once that happens the following are envisioned:
? Once funds are available, it is envisaged that the Trust would embark on rehabilitating the degraded area at Ditlhakane. Projects like Animal Park are envisaged to be started there so that small animals that fled at the peak of illegal operations there are restocked.
? There also are thoughts of establishing cultural village there as Gabane is a village endowed with tribes of varying cultural backgrounds, and the excellent sceneries there can be tourist attractions.
? Obviously, with such projects implemented employment would be created.
? Far-a-field fronts might be started between locals and other nationals especially in tourism.
? Various communities would be mobilized so as to own and partake in the developments.
? A river reign community would be established between communities along the river.
? Training would be provided to, especially young people living in neighboring villages in various jobs that are envisaged to be created there at various stages of developments.
? Some form of information dissemination would be established to ensure transparency-like newsletter- so as to try to monitor and evaluate progress.
? This would strengthen the cooperation between tribes that live along the banks of this river.
? That would automatically close out illegal operations.
? Since the communities would have been mobilized, safeguarding and sustainable use of various natural resources would be established.
? Likewise, poverty would be reduced if not eliminated.
