The main outputs of the project are summarized below:
? A policy for the water pipeline management will be established and integrated into the Chambok CBET regulations;
? A pipeline system will be constructed in 3 villages in Chambok;
? A policy of revolving funds for the purchase of water filters will be established and applied through Woman Shelf Help Groups;
? Fifteen training workshops on water sanitation and the use of water filters will be conducted for 300 villagers;
? 300 small scale water filters will be provided for 300 households;
? A policy of water pond management will be established and applied by each of the 5 villages;
? Five water ponds will be constructed and appropriately used by the villagers.

The activities are done through the participation from local communities in the form of work for food labor. People were strongly participating even at night time with heavy rain in order to dig the hole putting the pipes and transporting the pipe up to the mountain head. The water fall at the mountain were converted by dike made by local people and extended with the water piped system in order to collect water down to the villages. More than 4,000 meter length of water pipeline system was built to convert water from the mountain in Chamb Bak commune of Phnom Srouch district, Kampong Speu. The work is coordinated by Mlup Baitaing based in the commune.

The short term objectives of the pipe water system is to provide access to water sources, improve for 200 households in three villages and other three more villages from nearby com to collect water from the water tapes. It was expected that villagers would have enough water for daily consumption, home gardening and livestock raisings and the operation of the tourist services. The other objectives are to response to the climate change adaptation within the communities where there is the source of eco-tourism as well.

The water piped system is managed by the 9 members of selected community representatives which included one chief (chief of commune), two deputies (forestry and ecotourism), and 6 members. The committee will be responsible for water allocation, collecting water fee when the system broken down and solve the conflict in water usage.

The benefit

According to Mr. Va Moeun, the water sold in village is 3,000 riel/200 liters for three day/family by excluding washing and bathing. In average, one family will spend around 30,000 riel for buying water (600,000 riel/month for 200 families). Water buying is done mostly during dry season from December to May (5 months periods or 3,000,000 riel/season). The bought water from local middle men was considered as not safe and cleans as well. It was the first time that the construction of piped water system introduced in the communities. The local people felt like they were in city. It was expected that the social capital among the villagers and the sense of ownership in term of water the natural resource within the villages will be increased.

The chief of district admitted that throughout history, we have never have water connect directly to our house. The commune used to be isolated for generation where there is less people from outside come to visit, only the wild animal. Now we have this and many tourists come to visit which make our villages more attractive.

These benefits are not including the potential of vegetable cultivation, animal raising and other fruit tree cultivation surround villager's houses and the reduction of global warming as the place will be come greener with fruit trees and other commercial crops made by local villagers which keep the land cooler. And the potential increase of home stay for tourists which cost around US$8/day includes local food made by the house owners.

In term of household vegetable cultivation, there are currently four villages (Beng, Thmey, Chambak, and Pech Antung) with 31 families (24 from self help groups, 7 families are not members) make use the pipe water to cultivated vegetable in their surround home land (home gardening). The vegetable will supply to the local market and home stay and household consumption. The home stay and tourism market are managed by the women association (with five selected member as the committee) where all the members come from all saving groups. The income for the women association includes selling food, renting bicycles to tourists as well as renting clothes for bathing.
