Capacity building for private owners of tree nurseires for control of land degradation in Lushoto
Since demand for afforestation for ecological and economic reasons has increased and will continue to be so in the near future, private nurseires are expected to increase production of nursery stock to meet the increased demand.
The objective of this project is to build the capacity of private nursery owners as a strategy to ensure increased production of good quality nursery stock. It will also promote involvement of private nursery owners in the production of increased and good quality tree seedlings for sustainable land management in 8 divisions of Lushoto district. These will bring about ecological and economic benefits as the trees from the nurseries will be planted in private woodlots as well as open spaces in the forest.
