Forest Conservation and Protection Project for the IPs in Mt. Bayog and Mt. Bunsuran
The project aims to undertake community-based activities for the strengthening of participatory conservation and protection of Mt. Bayog and Mt. Bunsuran forest reserve area, thereby securing the ancestral domain of the Pala'wan community through integrated development approach. The project sites are located within the ancestral domain of the Pala'wan tribe, covering three sitios. This ancestral domain which covers an area of 1,004 hectares is located within the forest reserve of Mt. Bayog-Mt. Bunsuran. The application for CADC submitted in 1998 has so far not acted upon. Hence, the project shall include, among others, one of the target outputs the filing of the CADT application. The project is expected to directly benefit at least 136 IP families (Batak and Tagbanuas).

Project Characteristics and Results
Capacity - Building Component
Activities shall be conducted to enhance and strengthen traditional leadership capabilities of community leaders. Trainings and seminars like paralegal; IPRA; local government code (people's participation and governance); environmental laws; project management; organizational development; leadership; forest resource conservation and protection; and financial management shall be conducted to provide skills in securing, protecting and managing the ancestral domain. This shall also include enhancing their skills in people's participation in local governance. The project will also have "ADVOCACY and PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT" with local government and line agencies. This will take opportunity of the organization's membership to local government special bodies for the inclusion of the ADRMP in the comprehensive land use plan of the municipality and also to encourage participation in local governance. This shall also be a venue for advocacy and resource mobilization.
Notable Community Participation
The PPSB-AMP-IPM and the project partner committee and the community shall work closely in all every component of the project which will include planning, management including the administration of funds, hiring of project staff, monitoring and evaluation, reporting and formulation and implementation of plans and activities under the four (4) impact areas.
