Palagala is an environmentally sensitive area which has been overlooked by development activities due to its remote location in the Anuradhapura district.
Conservation, Protection & Propagation of medicinal plants and decorative medicinal plants. Promote income generating activities for women in the area through propagation and planting of herbal plants. Awareness raising and education activities on biodiversity conservation
Identify suitable developmental projects for the communities in the environmentally sensitive areas with a view to alleviate poverty among the farmer community.

Conservation of endemic species.

Development and efficient use of home gardens.

Establish a central plant nursery in an area of 2 acres which grows rare medicinal herbs and other plants to be distributed among the farmers.
Provide fertilizer, pesticides and necessary technical assistance to the farmers.
Facilitate sale of the fruits to both local and foreign markets, generating additional income for the farmers.
Production of indigenous medicines as a domestic industry, in effect conserving the medicinal herbs by creating awareness among the people of its uses and importance.
