Men will be installing the solar panels, while women will be doing the feeding of the males who are actually executing most of the activities of the project.
No, there is no focus on the impacting of the policy level in as so much as the impacting the positive use of the sun's heat and changing it to useful energy that can be utilized by the Fafine Nui Island Community.
None for policy influence.
Promoting Public Awareness of Global Environment
Probably, a billboard and interview conducted at the Tuvalu Media for public awareness may be the only communication tools at this point that will enhance the project's visibility.
Significant Participation of Indigenous Peoples
The Indigenous people here in this project will be the people of the island of Funafuti, and this is because the project is executed on their land. And since this project is an endeavour that is executed at an already established community hall there is no involvement of the indigenous people, as this already established hall has already been approved by these indigenous people.
Notable Community Participation
The Nui Island Community YOUTHS are fully involved in the project both in the design phase and the execution phase. There was a design committee that was formed to assist the Fafine Nui Organization, and about 50% of the members were youths. During the execution phase, almost 90% of youths were involved in the installation of the solar panels at the Fafine Nui Shelter (another project that was also funded by the GEF SGP in Tuvalu).
Capacity - Building Component
The capacity building will not be covered by the project. The Nui Island Community will cover the financial spending of the capacity building for the project.
Replication of project activities
The project can be easily replicated, and for information purposes this project was replicated from the Tamanuku Solar System Project (reference number TUV/SGP/OP6/STAR/CC/02)).
Emphasis on Sustainable Livelihoods
The socio-economic activities that will be involved in this project is that all members of the Nui Island Community (not only the Fafine Nui) in executing the project. This is the normal way of doing activities in Tuvalu, all communal members help each other during the execution of their project.
The sustainability of the project will be the responsibility of the Fafine Nui organization.
Inovative Financial Mechanisms
The youths that will be assisting in installing the solar panels will be of course trained first and then do the installations. The Nui Island Community will be also informed about the importance of careful maintaining the solar panels and therefore trust the youths who did the installation to have them lead the maintenance work as well as the monitoring of its capacity.
Planning gef grant
There is no intention to scale up this project to a medium-sized GEF grant.
Linkages gef projects
There is no linkages to larger GEF grants.
Planning non gef grant
There might be some possibility of scaling up the project through something like a solar water pump and to be sponsored by a non-GEF grant.
The project result will be the (i) installation of the solar panels at the Fafine Nui Shelter, a project that was also funded by the GEF SGP (reference number TUV/SGP/OP6/STAR/CC/01).
