Community led Mangrove Restoration: Towards Sustainable Management of Guyana?s Mangrove Forest - PHASE 2.
The project contributes to abating climate change (carbon sequestration through reforestation and forest preservation) and mitigate its effects using mangrove sea defenses, through the restoration of a one kilometer span, 0.5 km of mangroves seedlings and 0.5 km of Spartina grass along the coastline from Columbia to Aberdeen, by October, 2021.
The project will address the rehabilitation, protection and sustainable use of mangroves, monitoring and the enforcement of forest legislation and established Code of Practice for mangrove management, and public awareness and education.
