Youth-led Environment Monitoring Center for local communities’ benefits
The main goal of the project is establish a youth- and community-led environment monitoring system for the benefits of local population. For this purpose, the project has created an Environment Monitoring Center, installed monitoring equipment, developed an open-data digital platform and conducted awareness raising campaign in close cooperation with local authorities, SCOs, community and youth activists. The initiative is resulted in broad local youth engagement, increase of their competencies, capacities and skills, new green jobs and effective tools to lobby climate resilient solutions on the local and regional levels. The project is focusing on social inclusion of the young internally displaced persons affected by the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.

Project Characteristics and Results
Gender Focus
The project is implemented in accordance with the gender parity principle and taking into account gender equality at all stages. The number of participants and beneficiaries of the project corresponds to gender disaggregated breakdown on the principle of gender parity in the ratio of 50/50 percent of young boys and girls. Outcomes of the project implementation show that both men and women are equally involved, so the project objective to promote gender equality, among other things, is being met. The impact of the project on men and women in terms of the division of labor, work load and access to resources and services are equal and balanced.
Notable Community Participation
The project promotes the empowerment and leadership of youth, affected by military actions in Eastern Ukraine, and internally displaced persons, in order to consolidate efforts in preventing global consequences of climate change at the local level and to scale up best practices of their activity to the national level. Young people took part in the development of the project, in particular they initiated an idea to establish a hub and eco-monitoring center, and continue to play a leading role in project implementation.
