Elite Youth Self-Help Group is based at Ilchamus Ward, Ng’ambo location, and Baringo South Sub-County in Baringo County. The group was founded and registered in August 2006 under the Department Of Social Services as a Self-Help Group for the promotion of development through pasture production, beekeeping and crop farming. Thereafter Elites Youth Self Help Group has grown in membership and activities engaged in different activities with the outstanding ones being the production of pasture in a large scale, animal breeding, crop farming and animal fattening. The group has a current membership of 15 comprising of 8 males, 7 females whole age bracket is in the range of 18 and 35 years.
The purpose and the core activities of the Elites Youth Self Help Group is to promote activities that enhance environmental protection and preservation through activities such as agro-forestry, sustainable pasture production, environmental advocacy and all other activities that are pro-environment within the LBL. The main activity involved is sustainable pasture production and conservation is the Bufel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) When this will have been done in large scale the group will engage in other value addition activities such as animal fattening, breeding and beekeeping hence this will empower the youths to be self-reliant instead of been dependent as perceived.
