Reducing wood use and improving health with improved wood-fired stove
With this planning grant, our overall objective is to identify appropriate designs of improved wood-fired stoves for our factory and our homes, which use less wood, produces less smoke, and can be built locally.
Specifically we would like to:
Objective-1: Build and test a total of six improved stoves for:
1. Cooking with pots (preparing meals in the home)
2. Preparing farine & cassava bread at home (2 stoves)
3. Baking (an oven)
4. Preparing farine at the factory
5. Preparing cassareep on a large scale (for the factory)
Objective-2: Understand how, if we do develop affordable well-functioning improved stoves, we can make these accessible to women in the North Rupununi, in a financially sustainable manner.
