Promoting Innovative Smart Agriculture through Urban Gardening in Sabon-Tasha, Kaduna, Chikun LGA, Kaduna State, Nigeria
This project aims to establish a model training and resource center-of-excellence on Climate Smart Agriculture and promoting go-green, integrated home-gardening/urban farming initiative by building hands-on skills and techniques to at least 150 unemployed youth female headed households and retired wo/men in Sabon-Tasha, Kaduna.

Project activities include practical skills for urban farming of common crops in empty sacks; home gardening of vegetables production on fences, balconies; integrated snail, fish and local chicken farming and adding value to food processing for more profit and nutrition in house-holds. A green house and a model Urban organic farming resource center would be established on the land provided by CaRE-NGO, where all season production of various types of vegetables, food items, would be produced and sold by the Community Project Implementation Committee which will later become a Cooperative. There would be 10 series of practical demonstration and hands-on-trainings on climate smart agriculture and urban organic gardening. Other aspects of the project include participatory monitoring and evaluation, on the spot counseling, mentoring and knowledge sharing/fair.
