Using Citizen Science to Monitor Coral Bleaching and Hawksbill Sea Turtle Populations in the Red Sea
This project will be implemented under a collaboration between JREDS and Indiana University in the United State of America. It will aim to initiate a citizen science program to monitor coral bleaching and hawksbill sea turtle populations in Aqaba, Jordan. The specific objectives of the project are:
• Engage volunteers and tourists in marine surveys and conservation in Aqaba
• Develop public awareness about sea turtles and coral reefs in Aqaba
• Establish new monitoring program of coral reefs and sea turtles for JREDS
• Utilize data collected by volunteers to assess coral health and status of sea turtles in Aqaba
