Capacity Building for Communities through Permaculture-Based Sustainable Agriculture in Nusa Penida, Bali
GOAL :
Creating an independent society that has a sustainable livelihood through the ability to adapt to a sustainable environment
OBJECTIVE 1 :
Community in two Villages planting the local tree for the natural dye weaving in Nusa Penida
INDICATOR 1 :
1. At least 2,000 daksina coconut seedlings (local - for ceremonies) are embedded and other ceremonial support plants are available
2. 60 families increased knowledge in dry land farming practices without chemist product
3. The availability of nurseries for local plants and plants that need ceremonies
ACTIVITIES :
1. Capacity building: Introduction to Permaculture Training (Household and Nursery)
2. Planting daksina coconut seeds and ceremonial plants (flower / fruit plants)
3. Making nurseries managed by community groups in the assisted villages. Farmer groups will have a system of work and maintenance and management of nurseries. Nursery land will use communal / Village land
OBJECTIVES 2 :
The community has a healthy food source and is able to process post-harvest products which are local plants
INDICATOR
1. Household gardening with permaculture practices without chemistry helps the adequacy of healthy food in the two assisted villages
2. The assisted community understands post-harvest processing methods and is able to sell products locally
3. The community assisted increased knowledge and awareness of sustainable livelihoods
Activities :
1. Capacity building: Local Product Development
2. Making household gardens (vegetable plants, medicinal plants).
3. Strengthening the Group for local product development
4. Educational media for training and mentoring
OBJECTIVES 3
The community is able to manage water resources that are limited to the maximum
INDICATORS
1. Community assisted increased knowledge in household waste management
2. Community gardens use compost from household organic waste
ACTIVITIES :
1. Capacity building: household wastewater management and household composting
2. Establishment of a simple wastewater treatment system for irrigation in assisted household gardens of the community

The community has increased the ability to adapt to the environment with the maximum use of local resources
1. The community assisted by increased knowledge in the manufacture of local animal feed 2. The assisted community understands and understands ways to handle livestock diseases with organic material obtained
