Rain-water Harvest in west Disksam (Tilhadimadeh), Socotra, Yemen
Tilhadimadeh if the western part of the Diksam plateau starting at the paved road junction in Disarm and westward. Population expands thoroughly in the region as dictated by grazing resources and grazing rights. The total population benefiting from this project is 432 and 433 men and women of 142 families.
The project will allow communities to build 42 water harvest cisterns “Karieves” to store water for use in the dry season. Water harvest enables communities to reduce theirs and their livestock movement between grazing areas and water sources distance away. The project will harvest 2110 cubic meter at one time rain fall. Project will improve both land degradation, and biodiversity conservation and reduce over grazing.

Building rain-water harvest bodies require high labours in digging, Building and finishing, hence local communities invested an effforts and funds to bring such activities to work. Their in-kind and cash co-financing reached nearly 75%.
Project sustainability
Built rain-water harvest bodies are owned for families that will look after and maintained. The importance of water for human and livestock are guarantee for project sustainability.
