Rain-water Harvest in East Diksam Plateau, Socotra, Yemen
East Diksam communities (EDC) in are found in the eastern part of Diksam plateau (N12º 30? 59?.61 E53? 58? 29?.39) whom practice widely livestock herdering. EDC are impacted by shortage of water for human and livestock especially in the dry season. EDC proposed to solve their problem through rain water harvesting, storing for dry season uses. Community will built 40 rain-water harvest cisterns with total approximate capacity of 1300 cubic meters. Total families benefited from this project are 67 familiies and 600 inhabitants. Project constitrute the adoption of lesson learnt in solving water shortage problem in Socotra and where communities investion termandous effort into the solutions.

Capacity - Building Component
Due to the nature of project activities in building and finishing rain-water harvest bodies where many unskilled people are train on the job how to conduct mason work. This is progressively creating more capacity with communities' member to acquire new skills required for solving livelihood hindrances.
Policy Influence
Government policy towards national water security as indicated in the national strategies that rain water harvest is recommended solution. Hence several funds are providing various support to communities towards practicing rain-water harvest.
